On Monday, the Los Angeles Angels and Chicago White Sox opened up a three-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field.
The Halos took the opener on Monday night by a final score of 6-4.
However, the Angels and their fans were left holding their collective breath in the top of the first inning when Shohei Ohtani was hit in the knee by a 95-mph fastball from White Sox starter Michael Kopech.
The two-way star walked gingerly toward first base before manager Phil Nevin and the training staff tended to him.

Fortunately, Ohtani managed to stay in the game.
The training staff of the Angels tended to him, but Ohtani was able to move his leg around and stretch to ease the pain.
The two-way phenom then took a sprint down the right field line to test things out, and everything appeared to be okay.
And so, Ohtani remained in the ball game.
Angels fans were certainly holding their breath in that moment as they watched their superstar limp towards first base.
But it appears that everything is okay with Ohtani for now.
The pitch came hard inside and hit him almost directly on the knee.
Fortunately, Ohtani was able to fight through it and remain in the game.
The Angels picked up their 29th win of the season and remained six games behind the Texas Rangers in the competitive AL West division.
Ohtani only reached base eleven, but fortunately was not seriously injured as a result of being hit.
