Right now, the entire sports world is watching with great interest to see if the Boston Celtics will become the first team in NBA history to win a series after having trailed 3-0.

If they are to win Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday against the Miami Heat, they’ll become the second Boston team to have accomplished such a feat.

The other team was the Boston Red Sox, who nearly two decades ago rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the ALCS against the New York Yankees to win the American League pennant before sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series.

On Twitter, Boston sports analyst Thomas Carrieri suggested that the Celtics should invite members of the 2004 Red Sox to TD Garden on Monday for a special reunion.

This would be a fitting way to get fans in Boston hyped up for Game 7 against the Heat.

Back in 2004, the Red Sox were still fighting through the “Curse of the Bambino”, having not won a World Series since 1918.

But it was a late comeback in Game 4 of the ALCS against the Yankees that sparked a surge.

David Ortiz played the hero a couple of times to get the series back to New York, while Curt Schilling delivered a dominant outing in Game 6 with his bloody sock and Johnny Damon helped them put the finishing touches on the comeback with two homers in Game 7 .

The Celtics have walked the tightrope in the Eastern Conference Finals, but just one more win would put them in elite Boston sports company.
