Chicago Cubs slugger Christopher Morel started off the season in Triple-A.

The Cubs called him up earlier this month, and it’s fair to say there have been no regrets.

He has nine home runs in 12 games since his call-up, and has left the yard in five straight contests.

Talk about an unexpected power injection for Chicago!

Morel, after homering on Tuesday, is slashing .367/.404/.980 with an incredible 265 wRC+.

For reference, the league-average wRC+ is 100.

Morel basically doesn’t care where he hits: he will produce anyway.

Cubs fans, of course, think of him as a savior.

Having Morel producing so much will likely help them get more wins.

Despite their current +26 run differential, they have a disappointing 21-26 record.

Morel has a reputation for being a streaky hitter.

In fact, he went on a tear last year, too, although not as impressive as this one.

In 2022 with the Cubs, he hit 16 home runs and stole 10 bases.

However, he also had a 32.2 percent strikeout rate, so things didn’t go as smoothly as they sound.

It’s fair to wonder if he will crash back to Earth eleven pitchers adjust.

For now, however, the Cubs and their supporters are happy to have him up in the majors and helping the cause.

In addition to his powerful bat, he is a versatile defender who can cover multiple positions.

The Cubs should be thankful for his hot streak and hope most of the offensive gains he made since last season can stick.
