Last season at the trade deadline, the San Francisco Giants said goodbye to utilityman Darin Ruf.
Ruf was traded to the New York Mets in exchange for JD Davis.
This season, Ruf got lost in the Mets shuffle and was ultimately cut loose.
Fortunately, the Giants were in need of a bat and found a spot for him.
On Wednesday, he made his return to the Giants lineup.
San Francisco got off to a hot start against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers, with Ruf driving in a run in the bottom of the first inning on a two-out double off of Clayton Kershaw.
On Twitter, NBCS, the TV home of the Giants, welcomed back Ruf and posted a video of his double.

Ruf is officially back in San Francisco.
He had two hits on Wednesday against the Dodgers and bumped his average up to .500.
The 36-year-old got the start at the designated hitter position.
The veteran utilityman was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009 and made his debut in 2012.
After the 2016 season, he was relegated to the minor leagues and did not return to the majors until joining the Giants in 2020.
He hit 16 home runs in 2021 and helped guide the Giants to their first NL West title since 2012.
After a brief stay with the Mets, Ruf has now returned to the Bay Area and has received a nice welcome home from the Giants and their devoted fans.
The Giants lost to the Dodgers by a final of 10-5 on Wednesday.
