With the World Baseball Classic back in full swing, it’s time to get set for the tournament portion of this legendary event.
Pool A of the WBC is now complete, and while Chinese Taipei was unable to advance to the quarterfinals, one star from the team had a big couple of days.
Yu Chang of the Boston Red Sox was named the Pool A MVP.
The utility infielder went 7-for-16 in Pool A play, hitting two home runs and driving in eight runs while also collecting two doubles and posting a .500 on-base percentage, as well as a .938 slugging percentage.
On Twitter, the Red Sox celebrated Chang’s success with a cool graphic featuring his stats.

Chang certainly did his job over the past four games.
Unfortunately, Chinese Taipei couldn’t advance to the quarterfinals.
Still, Chang’s success was remarkable and now he’ll return to Red Sox camp in Fort Myers, Florida swinging a hot bat.
The 27-year-old joined the Red Sox late last season after having spent time with the Cleveland Guardians, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Tampa Bay Rays.
He hit just .208 during the regular season with four home runs in 168 at-bats.
For his career, Chang owns a .213 average and has hit a total of 14 home runs.
But the Red Sox have to be encouraged by what they saw from Chang in the Classic this past week, and it should create an interesting dynamic at spring camp as the Red Sox try to finalize their Opening Day roster.
Perhaps Chang could earn a utility role with the team.
