The San Francisco 49ers are moving forward with three quarterbacks on their roster: Brock Purdy, Trey Lance, and Sam Darnold.
Purdy will apparently be the starter for Week 1 of the next season, if he is ready to be the starter after having surgery on a torn UCL in his throwing elbow about a month ago.
If he isn’t ready, Lance will move in behind center, and perhaps there is always the chance that he impresses the team so much during OTAs and training camp that he has a chance of snatching the starting spot from a healthy Purdy.
But some want the 49ers to consider all their options at quarterback, including a certain someone who appears on his way to the New York Jets.
Ryan G Hensley thinks the team should make a move for Aaron Rodgers in order to make sure he wins the Super Bowl next season.
I do not like Aaron Rodgers personality at all but I think people are severely underestimated how good he is as a quarterback. I’d take him on the 49ers in a minute and they would probably win a Super Bowl.

Rodgers is 39 years old, but he is a proven commodity who led the Green Bay Packers to a Vince Lombardi Trophy in the 2010 season, and he has the type of experience that Purdy, Lance, and Darnold can only dream of.
Rodgers’ numbers fell a bit during the 2022 season, and it’s an open question whether it was due to mileage or the departure of star wide receiver Davante Adams.
If San Francisco did want to go after Rodgers, it would be very costly, especially in terms of draft capital, and then there is the issue of his big contract.
The team already needs to give reigning Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa a new contract, and making a move for the Packers great could complicate those efforts.
