Now more than ever, the National Football League has become a quarterback’s league.

Those bell-cow running backs rushing the football 20+ times a game are a dying breed, and teams are hesitant to commit big bucks to them nowadays.

That’s why having a solid quarterback situation has become more crucial now than ever and why we think the AFC will rule the league for years to come.

If you don’t take our word for it, just take a look at PFF’s grades for quarterbacks last season, featuring not one, not two, but three AFC QBs at the top of the rankings.

Per PFF, Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow were tied at the top with a 92.0 grade, followed by Josh Allen (91.8) and then Jalen Hurts (88.2).

Notably, we got to witness Burrow going against Allen and Mahomes in the playoffs and Pat facing Hurts in the Super Bowl, so this doesn’t seem like a coincidence at all.

Multiple teams will look to improve at the QB position next year, with the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, Washington Commanders, and even Seattle Seahawks as potential buyers .

The San Francisco 49ers also know firsthand how much of a difference a good quarterback could make, as they’ve knocked on the door of Super Bowl contention but have fallen short due to their woes at that position.

Still, topping any of the guys pictured above will be an uphill battle, even for the best gunslingers in the game.
