Opening Day is almost here.

In just a few short days, the 2023 MLB season will kick off and fans will have a chance to see their favorite teams back in action.

Opening Day in St. Louis is quite a special experience.

It typically begins with the Budweiser Clydesdales circling the field.

Then, each St. Louis Cardinals Hall-of-Famer makes their appearance by donning the signature red jacket.

Two members of the red jacket club will make an appearance on Thursday.

Scott Rolen, who was recently elected to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

Matt Holliday will receive it.

This should be fun for Cardinals fans.

Holliday and Rolen are two of the best players to ever wear the Birds on the Bat and were fan favorites during their time in St. Louis.

Rolen helped guide the Cardinals to the World Series in 2004 and again in 2006, with St. Louis winning it all the second time around.

One of his best moments in a Cardinals uniform came in Game 7 of the 2004 NLCS, when he hit a go-ahead home run off of Roger Clemens.

St. Louis held on for a 5-2 win to eliminate the Houston Astros.

Holiday is not yet in the Baseball Hall of Fame, but he is without a doubt one of the greatest to ever wear the Cardinals uniform.

Fans remember him for his clutch performances and his leadership in the clubhouse, similar to Rolen.

One of Holiday’s signature moments came on September 30 of 2016, when he hit a pinch-hit home run to kick off the final homestand of his Cardinals career.

He helped guide the Cardinals to a World Series title in 2011 and was a key factor in the team returning to the Fall Classic in 2013.
